Make no mistake, it gets hot in Pattaya. From March to June especially, the midday sun can really test your stamina. Morning tee times are your best friend.

- Keep a hat and sunglasses handy.
- Drink plenty of water, every course has drinks carts, on course shops and shaded rest stops.
A nice touch is to grab your caddie a cold drink (they will often choose to enjoy a beer with you) along the way. It’s a small gesture that goes a long way, especially when you’re both out there in the heat for 4+ hours.
3. Pattaya’s Golf Courses Are in Excellent Shape
One of the biggest draws to Pattaya is the quality of the courses. Fairways stay lush year round, greens roll true, and the overall conditioning is top notch thanks to Thailand’s climate and the pride clubs take in their presentation.
And it’s not just the courses, clubhouses here are on another level. Expect air conditioned locker rooms, swimming pools, saunas, steam rooms, massage service, well stocked pro shops, practice facilities (putting greens, chipping areas & driving ranges) and restaurants with views over the 18th green. You don’t just play a round here, you make a day of it.
4. Dress Code Still Matters
Even though Thailand is laid back, golf here comes with traditional standards. Collared shirts, golf shoes, and proper golf attire are a must. Forget singlets, flip flops (thongs for us Aussies), or beach shorts, they won’t fly and you will either be stuck buying a new outfit in the pro shop (not cheap) or heading back to the hotel feeling disappointed, bitter and out of pocket (refunds are like rocking horse shit here in Thailand) they don’t exist especially if you are a foreigner.
If you’ve left something behind, most pro shops stock what you’ll need, but expect premium prices. Packing properly saves you money (and hassle).
5. How Much Will You Spend
Green fees in Pattaya can range widely, depending on the course and the time of week with price’s Starting from 1,200THB per round ($37USD) with fee’s only going up from there. Caddie fee and cart fee are generally included in the price, but you are required to tip your caddy directly at the end of your round.
A couple of tips:
- Midweek rounds are cheaper than weekends or holidays.
- Check the clubs website and social media accounts for specials and midweek promotions.
- Enquire with local golf societies about group bookings (often cheaper and include transfers, plus it’s a great way to meet other golfers)
- Remember, the caddie fee you pay the club is not their wage. That’s why tipping a minimum of 500THB ($15USD) is a must.
Personally I would recommend you budget 3,000THB ($92USD) for a round of golf here in Pattaya. Just remember if you want to play somewhere extra special like Siam Country Club or Chee Chan then you will easily double that. One often over looked cost is transport to and from the courses, for a 1 off round I’d suggest booking a car through bolt or grab (rideshare) if you are planning a few trips with 3+ players then booking a mini van on a day rate is much cheaper option.
6. Renting Clubs is Smarter Than You Think
Flying long haul with golf clubs can be stressful, not to mention the risk of lost luggage, damage, or airline fees that sting. Renting clubs locally is often the smarter choice, especially if you’re only playing a few rounds.
